Dry Fogging – The who, what, how and why of dry fogging and mold removal.

Who recommends dry fogging for disinfecting or sanitizing?

Dry fogging is a method of disinfecting or sanitizing that is often recommended by public health agencies, infection control experts, and environmental health and safety professionals. For example, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends using EPA-approved disinfectants and following the manufacturer's instructions for use in order to properly disinfect a space. In some cases, the CDC recommends using fogging or misting methods to apply disinfectants in order to reach into small crevices and surfaces where germs and bacteria may be hiding. It's important to note, however, that dry fogging should be used in addition to, and not as a replacement for, traditional cleaning methods.

What does dry fogging do?

Dry fogging is a method of disinfecting or sanitizing a space using a fine mist of a disinfectant solution. The mist is atomized, or turned into very small droplets, and dispersed into the air. This allows the disinfectant to reach surfaces and corners that may be difficult to clean with traditional methods. Dry fogging is often used in hospitals, schools, and other public spaces to help reduce the risk of infections and other illnesses. It can also be used in homes and businesses to help control the spread of germs and bacteria.

How does dry fogging help when removing mold?

Dry fogging can be an effective way to help remove mold from a building or home. The fine mist of the disinfectant solution can reach into small crevices and surfaces where mold may be growing, and help to kill the mold spores. This can be particularly useful in hard-to-reach areas, or in cases where the mold is widespread and traditional cleaning methods are not practical. It's important to note, however, that dry fogging alone is not a complete solution for mold removal. In order to fully remove mold from a building, the source of the moisture that is allowing the mold to grow must be addressed. Additionally, any materials that have been damaged by mold may need to be removed and replaced.

Why is dry fogging important?

There are a few reasons why dry fogging may be important:

1. Disinfection: Dry fogging can be used to help disinfect a space by using a fine mist of a disinfectant solution to kill germs and bacteria. This can be especially useful in public spaces, such as hospitals and schools, where the risk of infections and other illnesses may be higher.

2. Convenience: Dry fogging can be a convenient way to disinfect a large area quickly and effectively. Because the disinfectant is dispersed in a fine mist, it can reach into corners and surfaces that may be difficult to clean with traditional methods.

3. Efficacy: In some cases, dry fogging may be more effective at disinfecting a space compared to traditional cleaning methods. This is because the fine mist of the disinfectant solution can reach into small crevices and surfaces where germs and bacteria may be hiding.

Overall, dry fogging can be a useful tool for helping to control the spread of germs and bacteria in a variety of settings.
